A calendar page

The good think about making a scrappy calendar is that
it will produce a bunch of blog posts!
*smile*
I mentioned the other day that I made a calendar for my mother in law for christmas.
Hubby helped......
Here's a page I made of the two of them
In case you don't own your own binding machine (as I don't)
you can head over to your local Office Max and get you own calendar bound
for a rather reasonable rate!
That combined with the $1 you spent on the calendar from the dollar store,
and if you use up the product you've been hoarding in your craft room, and this can actually be a
pretty affordable present.
I found the sketch for this layout at Scrapbook challenges (sketch 373)
It's a great site for layouts and ideas!
I didn't want to add too much bulk to the calendar, so many of the pages are rather plain,
but Mom-in-law seemed to really love it!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, and I hope to have another post up with more
Calendar creations tomorrow!

Christmas tag

Merry Christmas Eve, and to some of you Merry Christmas (already!)
Yesterday was a flurry of activity,
Hubby helped me finish a scrappy calendar for his mom,
he was super cute huddled over his page, adding this or that!
I know you're expecting to see a scrap/ calendar page.
No such luck!
I'm hoping to photograph it tomorrow, and have a few different posts for you over the next week!
What I do have for you is this tag from Santa that my coworker asked me to make for her kids.
Some odds and ends found around the studio,
the little banners are from Pretty Little Studio
the Naughty or Nice is a stamp I found in the $1 bin at either joann's or Michaels,
and everything else was most likely picked up at an estate sale or two!

I hope you are having a wonderful holiday!
Merry Christmas y'all!

Just Some Lines: Christmas

I thank you faithful that have continued to check out my blog even though it seems I've checked out!
I can say I most certainly have not, but it seems life has gotten in the way the last few weeks
First my parents came to visit for 10 days,
then my work schedule changed back to the graveyard shift!
WOW right?
excuses excuses excuses!
I have done some crafting, most of it was the calendar I made for my parents!
Today however I have another Just Some Lines card to share with you!
The challenge is still Christmas or Holiday, and I made this cute card for my sister and her family.
Yes, it did get in the mail, and yes, it was super late!
But I'm pretty sure that it's the thought that counts in this case!

I hope you all are having a wonderful Christmas Season!
I hope it's filled with lots of love and joy, and the sweet aroma of
something yummy coming from the oven!

Fussy and fancy:chocolate

 Good morning everyone!
Today I have a fun little card that I made for my last and final trainer at my job!
Yep, I'm finally done with training!
By the time this post goes live I'll be working the graveyard shift again!
It's ok cause I like that shift!
Soooo for today I have a chocolate brown card to share with you all!
After all, that's the new challenge over at Fussy and Fancy Friday Challenges!
The image is a digi I picked up at Tiddly Inks,
and was colored up using my copic and prismacolor markers.

This last trainer I had was a big tea drinker, so I got her a package of tea, a pretty coffee cup!
I just love how this image feels so wintery!

Anything but a card: holiday style

Good morning bloggies!
Can you believe it's December 1st???
No? Me neither!
I had sorta hoped to do a December Daily this year,
but I don't know if that is actually going to happen...
I do however have this cute Christmas Card Holder to share with you all.
Wanna hear what I used??  Do ya do ya do ya??
Ok, I'll tell you!
For the chipboard under the green chevron paper is my Stovetop Stuffing Box!
The perfect size for this Christmas Card book. And great upcycling!
What is a Christmas Card book you say?
Well, it's a book to hold all those fab cards I'll be getting in the mail!
Cause lets be honest, they will otherwise end up in the trash or I'll save them with the intention of using this piece or that piece.

I love this little tag that I added with the year.
sorta chalkboardy, and sorta folksy!
And I had to show off this gorgeous glittery snow flake!

Oh yeah, There is a brand spankin new challenge over at Anything But a Card
You guessed it... it's Anything Goes!
lol lol I gotcha huh? you thought it was holiday??  Well it's anything goes, and maybe you wanna share your holiday creations as well??
Hop on over there and check out all the gooey inspiration!
And by all means, enjoy your holiday season!

Oh yeah, I am gonna link this picture up with the daily challenge that Heidi Swapp has put out there on Instagram today's challenge "and it begins"

Friendly ATC

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!
Today I'm sharing a little ATC
This is the last week (or day!) of the challenge at Just some Lines
Use 3 Embellishments!
I used twine, the pretty flower, and the little hanger.
I colored her up with my copic and prismacolor markers.
The sentiment is from a Unity Stamp!

I hope you had a very thankful and blessed holiday (if you celebrate)
and that you are finding some crafty time today!

Just some lines layout

Good Morning!
I had a busy couple of days off, and even though I didn't post to my blog very much at all
I did actually do some crafty stuff!
I saw a fun tutorial by Heidi Swapp where she made a calendar for her mom
but each month was a different layout!
Wow I said to myself, and I thought well I can certainly do that too!
Sooooo here is one of the pages from my mom's Christmas Present!
(She doesn't read the blog too much, so I'm hoping it stays somewhat of a secret!)

It's another week of the 3 Embellishments challenge at Just some Lines!
I thought this new digi called Em Joy (find it here)
It seemed to fit perfectly with this layout featuring my niece!
Here's a few little close ups!
See how I used buttons, and a ticket stub, and a tag as my embellies?

And finally a close up of my coloring!
I also added some of these little phrases to each of the pages of the calendar!

I hope you are out there being creative, and maybe getting a jump start on your holiday creations!

Put a feather on it

Tuesdays are my late day at work
(I go in 2 hours later than normal!)
However I tend to wake up about the same time,
Sooooo I took a little bit of time and made this little ATC!
I heat embossed the feathers, then inked over them with
Peacock Feathers, Raspberry, and Honey Distress inks!
(If you don't know this, the embossing acts as a resist)
Then a little bit of Vintage Photo around the feathers,
and the sentiment stamp at the top.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love ATC's for a quick creative release!
I hope you are getting crafty today!
It's my Friday at work, so Yeah for the weekend!

Just some lines

 It's Saturday again already!!!
Don't you just love this fabulous new digi from Just Some Lines??
The challenge is still up to use 3 embellishments,
This week I've used 3 different types of embelishments.
Buttons, Flower, and Ribbon.
On top of that I made this fun little card in 9:47.
Yep, it's that time again, the 10 minute craft dash is upon us again!
I will confess that I had already colored up my image a few weeks ago, and was just waiting
to make this cute card!
The papers are from Crate Paper's Party Days line (I'm in love with this companies papers, and literally stalk them whenever I'm out and about!!)
The buttons are of course from my stash, and the flower I assembled myself!
The little strips of ribbon are from an estate sale find back in April!
I hope you enjoy this little gem, and also that you'll play along at Just Some Lines!

Thankful

Yep, ever now and again I'm able to post a couple times in one day!
Seeing as my Just Some Lines DT post was on autopilot, this one is not!
I posted yesterday to the Hard Core Crop Challenge, and today I have another posting for that set of challenges!
I made this fabulous banner using different core'dinations card stock that I
dry embossed with my big kick.
Then I sanded down the paper to bring out the beautiful designs.
Here are a couple of close ups...

Then I used my circle punch and some leftover scraps to made the circles.
Added a quick glittery letter, and we are all set!
For the picture I had the banner set up outside,
but it will be gracing a small wall in my livingroom!

As it gets closer to Thanksgiving here in the US, I begin to think of all the things I'm
Thankful for, and I know having the ability to create some fabulous pieces is definitely up there on the list!

I hope you are taking some time out of your busy weekend to craft a little something!

Home sweet home

It's hard to believe that I almost missed out on the core'dinations
Hard Core Crafter Competition!
Luckily I took enough time out of my hectic schedule to make a card (or two!)

Hubby is in the process of starting up his own cleaning business, and one of our first
clients was a friend of the family that is moving from a rental into their own home!
We did a move in clean for them, and I made this cute little card!
I adore all the fun ways to use core'dinations, and am always on the look out for
a new way to use their product!
This time I did a honeycomb background and used the reverse side for the background!
Then I die cut the Townscape from Tim Holtz
Then finally, down to the challenge, which is to stamp on the core'dinations cardstock
So that's just what I did! With some brand new alpha stamps and some white ink!
Then I added the negative of a heart stamp, and the sequins!
They didn't turn out quite as brilliant in the picture, but it's a red sequin with a gold star sequin on top!

Happy anniversary

 Happy Wednesday!
Or for me, it's sorta like my Saturday, as I'm off today!
It's mine and hubby's 3rd wedding anniversary!
It's so hard to believe how quick time flies!
I made him a little card, and I got to use one of the left over peacock feathers from the big day!
All the papers came from a 6 x 6 paper pack from glitz paper

Anything But a Card: Fall into fall

Halloween is over, and it feel like fall is in the air here in Arizona!
We often joke that we have 2 seasons, Summer, and fall.
This last week it's felt a lot like fall!
To celebrate this fabulous weather, I made a fun little fall wreath!
I have a confession, I used all recycled and leftover materials
The base (which you can't see) is a cereal box (we've been eating a LOT of cereal lately!)
Then all the leaves were made using scrap pieces of paper,
and then distressed with distress inks,
then layered on top of eachother, and then I added the little FALL banner with some
of the twine that I scored from an estate sale a few weeks back!
There is a brand new challenge over at Anything but a Card
the Challenge is "Fall into Fall"
I hope you are getting to enjoy a little bit of fall weather,
or even better a little bit of winter weather!

Just some lines thank you

I rescently had the great opportunity to go through training at my new job.
I was lucky enough to have an amazing trainer,
I made her this card using the new Just some Lines digi.
There is a brand new challenge up to use 3 embellishments on your creation.
Don't you just love this new digi??
I colored her up using my copics, and the paper was a scrap I had laying on my desk!
I do love how versatile this digi could be!
I hope you will come and play along with us this month!

Witch atc

Only a few more days til Halloween!
I hope you all have your costumes picked out and ready to go??
I don't think we'll be able to do any dressing up this year, but it's always fun to color
up some fun Halloween images!
This is one of my oldish La la land crafts stamps!
I colored her up using my distress inks, some water, and a paintbrush!
I added a little glitter to her hat,
and I mounted her onto a scrap piece of striped cardstock
Added a few strips of halloweeny ribbon, and the sentiment!
I love how quick and fun ATC's can be!

Tomorrow is the Friday of my very long work week, and I'm looking forward to having my weekend, and possibly getting to enjoy Halloween!

Art Cat

This week was my last week with my newest amazing trainer at work!
We had so much fun, and soooo very much in common!
We both have funny and fun cats, so I decided to try my hand at an art doll
My dear friend Mary first posted this fabulous tutorial, and I decided to tweak it a bit and make mine into a cat instead of an owl!
I think I'm going to try to make a bunny rabbit next, with floppy ears, and a puffy tail!
So this guy was made using some very inexpensive canvas
I first cut out the pattern, and then sprayed the canvas down with
my spray inks, used some stencils, and some distress paints to fix him up a little
made the eyes using some more canvas, and some found buttons, then some twine for his whiskers,
and a button nose!
I had wanted the tail to curl around him to help stabalize him, but that didn't work out quite as planned, so that tail just sorta flops around!
He's a cutie though, and a great present for a brand new Friend!!!

Summer sunsets

I have a confession to make!
I've been a very bad blogger!
I cannot believe it's been over two weeks since I blogged!
I can honestly say I've been super bogged down with training at work,
and by the time I get home I usually just want to veg out for a while, and not craft!
I know it's hard to believe! But I did finally get into

I just love Instagram!
On a few of my nightly walks this summer I stopped and took some stunners!
What a fun layout they created!
I used all of the inspiration board from
Scrap around the world: October inspiration board
The colors, the doily, the softness ect!
Here's that board:
And my papers and embellishments are mostly from Crate Paper.
I am really loving their new lines, and have been lucky to score a few of their
6x6 pads at my local Tuesday Morning!

I promise more posts this weekend! I hope you have had some crafty time to yourself lately!

Ghoulish fun

Happy Monday!
I'm feeling creative today, and may just spend the whole day in the studio!
Yesterday however I only had a little small window of creative time,
I made this fun Halloween tag!

First I stamped and embossed the background in black ink and black embossing powder to give texture.
The image is from viva las Vegas stamps.
Then I colored up those skull zombies from dilly beans and stamped some orange
Card stock to make the moon!
The background was distressed using distress inks,
And then I just had to assemble!

It's a sorta creepy scene, but it was fun to create!

Anything but a card: Orange and/or black challenge

Yesterday was a pretty creative day for me!
I got to participate in a few card challenges for World Card Making Day,
and then I got to make this fun ATC!
There is a new challenge at Anything But a Card
Its Orange and/or Black
I decided to go for the and!
And I used a new digi from Just Some Lines!
I am loving these new Halloween Stamps that are in the store!
Isn't she just so fun???
I adore that her neck is vertebrae!
The bat stamps and the Fang-tastic came from a stamp pack I won last year!
So I haven't had much chance to use them until now!
You can find them at Bug Bites

Pink stripes

Hubby had to run an errand, so I hopped back in the craft room and whipped up this fun card!
I used my Denami Stamp, and a sort of ombre effect on the butterfly paper
for the background I used my coredinations cardstock which I ran through a dotty embossing folder
then sanded!
I layered them and added a little bit of twine in between.
Then I finished the edges off with some black and white dotty washi tape!
Ahhh I love the washi!

Finally the sentiment is from a Simon Says "Thank You" pack of stamps!
Cute, fun, and very pink!!!

World card making day

Did you know that it's World Card Making Day?
Yep it is!! So I pulled out some of my scraps and made this fun quick card!

There was a new 10 minute Craft Dash challenge posted on Wednesday, and you all know how much I just love this timed challenge!
This time it took me 9:34.
I was going to leave the butterfly just plain stamped, and decided at the last minute that I was gonna pull out my distress ink and paint her in!
The butterfly and sentiment stamp are from Stampin Up.
A girlfriend of mine gave me a bunch a while back, so I was happy to get to finally play with them!

Summer

Yesterday my husband wanted to clean and reorganize the craft room...
I swear it was his idea, not mine!
But it was a good thing.... stuff got new homes, and a little rearranging lead to a much
cleaner work space, and much more organized photo's!
Which allowed me to make this fun little layout using mostly my mind's eye papers,
and a layout I found on their site as well!
I did a little stitching of twine, and added that fun summer chipboard piece after I added glitter and glossy accents to it!

Fall Fun

It's time again for a new challenge at Fussy and Fancy!
This week the challenge is to use Dies or Punches!
I do love me some die cuts!
Soooo I pulled out this fabulous stamp from Stampendous (and it was unused!)
I colored it up using my copic markers,
Then I did a few different die cuts for those swirly background pieces
I added some ribbon and twine (I got a huge box of twine at an estate sale last weekend!!)
Then I stamped the leaf on some patterned paper, and stamped the hello
which I then heat embossed.
A perfect little fallish card!

Plus I have to give a shout out to DCVW papers,
Last month I played along with their stack a holic challenge, and I was a winner.
Well my prize pack was 3 full size paper packs!
I know! I was floored, and so very honored to win this prize!

Life is good

Today was my first day of working at 6 am, and getting out at 4pm.
Yeah!  So I had some time to finish up this card that I had started yesterday!
I used my daisy from Stampendous, but colored it up to look like a sunflower!
I loooove how big and versatile this stamp can be!
Sooooo after stamping and coloring,
I cut it into pieces.
Yep, so that I could put it back together in a grid pattern!

I've never tried this technique before, and thought this is the perfect image to do it with!
My pieces did turn out a little lop sided, but live and learn right???

I have been super lucky with the challenges at Stampendous, and am hoping this month will be just as lucky in their fall fun challenge!
Their challenge is Fall Fun, and to me a bright yellow sunflower just screams fall!

Many thanks

This week I finished the first major part of my training at work,
I'll be moving on to another trainer next week, so I made this fun and cute little card for my previous trainer.  I know how much effort and work goes into training, and I appreciate all she's done for me!
I used my tiddly inks image, and the many thanks is from the same stamp set.
Don't you just love that butterfly?

I was greatly blessed this week in that I won quite a few prizes, and they all seemed to show up on about the same day!
This included 5 paper packs total!
I was floored, and knew I had to start using them!
The dotty background paper came from coredinations, and I will definitely be using it again!
It's the raised embossed paper, I just sanded the polka's a little, and voila!
I also of course used twine, and that big strip of ribbon was a major score!
I literally found an entire roll of ribbon in the middle of a parking lot a few weeks back!
I've gotta say I'm not above grabbing that bad boy up and putting it to good use!

Silly faces

Last month I won the stack a holic challenge over at DCWV Diary's
Yesterday I opened an amazing package of 3 stacks of papers!
Wow! I was completely blown away by their generosity, and figured I'd
better get moving on their newest Stack a holic challenge!
It's a layout challenge, and I created this fun layout with some pictures of my nephew's Silly Faces!
Oh that kid is such a ham! He just poses for the camera all the time!
I used the My Sunshine pack, and some twine from the Twinery,
I'm sad to say that I'm running very low on the red mariccino cherry.
I'm guess I'm gonna have to stock back up on that!

Plus here's a picture of what I walked into in the craft room after going to get a cup of water.
I do love how it seems he has been sleeping for hours and hours, even though it's only been like 10 seconds!
Talk about a HAM!

Create freedom

 Happy Patriots Day!
For those of you that aren't from the US,
Today is the 12th anniversary of the terrorist bombing of the twin towers in New York City.
Like most in my age bracket and higher, I remember exactly where I was when I heard,
and I also remember almost everything I did for the rest of the day after!
Sadly I also remember the effects that day has had on myself, and on those I love!

Fitting for today I created a red white and blue layout!
My 19 year old nephew posted this picture on facebook a few weeks back,
and I snagged it up, and scrapped it!
He's an artist inside, I just know it!
Here's a close up of the picture, and the fabulous embellies all around it!
Way cool??
I love that I got to use that FREEDOM stamp that I got from Unity Stamps too!

Also, I used up a little bit of my sequin and button stash.
I know it's not a huge stash, but do you know how long those sequins can last??

I'm totally in love with this layout!  I hope you are too??
